I am in love with my Insta camera! Yesterday I walked around with my friend and neighbor with our dogs and ran through my first roll of film pretty quickly. I’m quite happy with the quality of the pictures (which is much better than my LG Ally that took this picture!) Outside, the colors are vibrant. Inside I’m totally reliant on the flash. But all the images have come out clear and sharp. Gotta love the analog.
From my walks through the garden last weekend.
On another note, I’m going to see my husband’s family tomorrow. There is a grandchild that needs lots and lots of pictures taken of her. She’s a little princess, smart, silly, and cute as a button. I’m also hoping to see my husband’s cousin’s wife (my sistah from anothah mothah) and her baby princess too and get some more pictures. I seem to do much better taking portraits of children than I do of adults. I think it’s because kids are so free and love the attention. But I also let them run around and be themselves. There’s no posing when I do portraits of children unless the child is perched on the lap of someone. Not that I’m against formal portrait work, I have a very good friend who is an amazing portrait-ess (what is the right word for that?). But that’s her style and mine is more photo-journalistic…free-range photographer, that’s me. Get your organic free-range chicken and your free-range photography right here!
I missed out on a really great opportunity tonight. A fellow photographer in town invited me to join her at a Hindu wedding. Oh man! But I had to cancel this morning because of my sacral ileitis – basically it’s severe chronic back pain. This morning I could barely move and actually took the heating pad to work with me. The wedding was tonight, and while my back loosened up during the day by 5 p.m. it was back to tightening up and being stiff. Now I’m feeling wretched. It’s not like I can say, “Excuse me from taking photos so I can go do some yoga stretches in the lobby.” It’s frustrating and just one more reason I need to lose weight.
Well, this post is all over the place isn’t it?
This weekend I got to run around a really neat bed and breakfast and take some pictures. The grounds were just lovely. To continue trying to post every day something along the lines of photography here we go.
And then because I just can’t get enough of playing with filters and color…
Today a friend told me that a friend of hers recently had one of her photographs downloaded and uploaded and used commercially several times just from someone pinning the photo on Pintrest. Her friend didn’t copyright the picture and now it’s just out there being used. Her art is being used without her permission. We’re both pretty leery now of posting our pictures online because of that. Is it enough to just put on there copyright and name?
For about a year I’ve been sitting in a 5/8″ trough that runs across the middle of my office. I have been basically propping myself up for the last year. We finally got someone in there to feather the floor and level it. I got to pick out new carpet which they installed today. And the walls got a fresh new matching coat of paint.
Look at it! It’s so happy and cheery and bright and beautiful.
But I’ll never get to sit in my office. It’s not my office any more. At some point I’ll be moved to another office with no lovely new carpeting. Boo, pout.
In Williamsport there is this lovely old cemetery built up the side of the mountain. It’s covered in markers that range from simple head stones to elaborate Celtic crosses to New Orleans-esque mausoleums. The statuary is so beautiful. And sad….little angels for the little departed.
Peering through fences and bushes, catching glimpses of the private life of the downtown Savannahians. This is what I want for my life too.
I love Mike’s iPhone. I love how splendid the photos look. I’m always so impressed that his phone takes pictures as well as my DSLR. Oh how I want an iPhone….July. July will be here before I know it!
